We’ve
had a Chinese Post Graduate student living with us for the past three
years, and in the autumn of 2002 he took me back to Beijing for a month
to stay with his family. After the French experience, it was inevitably
a Coolpix holiday. On the whole, photographically it was a big success.
It would be nice to report that the Coolpix behaved faultlessly, but
it failed – at, of all places – the Great Wall. Xinyang
reckoned it might have been the excessive amount of static in the atmosphere.
It recovered after a fashion - fortunately, because I discovered that
the famous Nikon world-wide guarantee doesn’t apply to digital
cameras. |
